Hugo Dworzak

Born in 1957 at the railway station Bahnhof Hintergasse in Vorarlberg – and on the move ever since, both in mind and body. Perhaps the two are predicated on one other. To start with, at least. After graduating from the University of Innsbruck, he sensed that he had not learned enough yet – a feeling of certainty, in fact, that he retains to this day – and, after postgraduate studies at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and some intermediate periods spent teaching on the international circuit, he finds himself still at school, now as head of the Institute of Architecture and Planning at the University of Liechtenstein. Since 1989, he has been running an architectural practice, operating under the name Architekturwerkstatt – nomen est omen. He manages to keep mind and body together by combining teaching and practice.
