Gohm Hiessberger Architekten was founded in Feldkirch in 1991 by Markus Gohm and Ulf Hiessberger. In addition to planning and implementing new construction projects, Gohm Hiessberger also design urban development concepts. Their philosophy is based on the idea that building always relates to people and the found location. They base their work on, and strive towards, the definition of a new site, high-quality utility, appropriate intervention, and a sense of poetry that extends beyond the actual purpose at hand. In 2006, Gohm Hiessberger were nominated for the Austrian State Prize for Architecture for the Dornbirn Hospital and accorded an honourable mention at the Austrian Architecture Award and the 2009 Austrian Client Award. They were also nominated for the Constructive Alps Award for Papillon, their housing complex in Mauren, and garnered a Best Architects 14 Award in 2014.
